Abstract

Discourse-based Grammar of language teaching provides EFL and ESL language learners with opportunities to engage in the language learning process as it focuses on both meaning and real communication which may be delivered through both speaking and writing. This study aims at finding out: using Discourse based Grammer in reducing morphological errors in EFL preparatory school students’ performance in writing in the posttest, finding out if there is any significant difference among the four variables, verb errors, noun errors, adverb and adjective errors, finding out which type of errors more decreased when using Discourse based Grammar. The participants were 80 students in the fifth-year preparatory school for girls in Baghdad, The study was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024. The data gathered by using a pre/post-writing test to assess students’ morphological errors. Results indicate that Discourse Based Grammar Teaching revealed that it proved to be statistically effective in reducing the morphological errors of the experimental group students’ writing based on the results and obtained, suitable recommendations and suggestions for further studies are presented
