Water Deficit in Third World Countries: Iraq is an Example

Abstract
Water shortage refers to the inadequate production of water resources in the area for its sustainability. Iraq has considerable issues in managing its two main rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, due to the mismanagement and water policies of neighboring nations, notably Turkey and Iran. Climate change intensified the challenge, making it more urgent and transforming it into a social, political, and cultural issue with worldwide ramifications. The problem was exacerbated by other causes, including insufficient water management, climate change, and population increase. Disputes around water resources existed among the participating states, namely Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. The reduction in water supply from upstream countries due to this issue adversely impacted the downstream nations. Iraq has used several effective ways to guarantee water conservation and growth.
