Abstract

     The researcher sought to know the nature and extent of the impact of the pattern of ownership of Iraqi newspapers on the level of margin of freedom of these newspapers by addressing issues of interest to the public and newspapers at the same time, taking into account that a specific methodological control had been carried out in the following: selecting three Iraqi newspapers for three. Forms of ownership (a party newspaper, a private newspaper, and a semi-governmental newspaper), through a sample of (90) newspaper articles and columns in the three newspapers under study. The researcher used the analytical newspaper to reach the results of the study, which was the diversity of topics in the articles that the newspapers under study dealt with political topics in first place with a percentage of 50% of the total study sample of (90) newspaper columns, while cultural topics came in second place with a percentage of 16.5% of the total study sample. The third place is the economic topics with a percentage 15%. As for the methods used before the three newspapers under study in the methods of proof, the unified style came in first place with a percentage of 33.3% of the sample of (90), and the factual style in second place with a percentage of 23%. As for the third place, the tangent style came in third place with a percentage of 21%. As for how newspapers present the topics they cover in their newspaper columns, the bottom-up approach came in first place with 50% of the study sample of (90) newspaper columns, and the top-down style came in second place with 21%. As for the effect The pattern of newspaper ownership depends on the degree of consistency of newspaper columns with government policy. The percentage of consistency of the topics presented in the newspaper columns was 13%, while the percentage of the number of newspaper columns inconsistent with the government’s proposals regarding the topics raised was 50% of the total study sample.
