Main Article Content
Abstract
The current research aims to identify the following:
1- Occupational stress among elementary school teachers.
2- Occupational stress among elementary school teachers according to gender (male-female).
3- Occupational stress among elementary school teachers according to years of service (1-5 years), (5-10 years), and (10 years and above).
This research is limited to elementary school teachers in the Directorate General of Education in Salah al-Din Governorate, in the Education Departments of (Shirqat and Baiji) for the academic year (2022-2023).
To achieve the research aims, the researcher prepared a scale for occupational stress, which included three domains (psychological, physical, behavioral). The scale in its initial form contained (40) items, and after extracting the psychometric properties of the scale, the final scale comprised (40) items
The researcher applied the research tools to a sample of (400) male and female teachers distributed across (25) elementary schools based on gender and years of service. The validity of the scales was verified through content validity (both types), face validity, and construct validity. The reliability of the scales was calculated using test-retest method and Cronbach's alpha for all scales. The data was statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
The research results showed the following:
1- Elementary school teachers of both genders (males - females), with years of service (1-5 years) and (5-10 years) and (10 years and above), exhibit a low-average level of professional stress.
2- There is no statistically significant difference among the sample of teachers based on gender (males and females), and no differences based on years of service (1-5 years), (5-10 years), and (10 years and above) in occupational stress.
Based on the results, the researcher reached a set of recommendations and suggestions.
