Abstract

From the perspective and attitude of the instructors at Kirkuk's Institute of Fine Arts, this study seeks to ascertain the extent to which alternate assessment methodologies are used. Attributed to the gender variable (teacher-school) in applying assessment strategies, the study examines how the faculty at the Institute of Fine Arts plans to implement new forms of assessment? Fifteen educators and nineteen institutions made up the study sample, with the researcher adhering to the protocols of the descriptive technique. The researcher used the questionnaire as a primary data collection instrument. The first instrument was a survey that measured the prevalence of alternative evaluation strategies; it had eighteen questions and four possible answers. The second instrument was a survey that measured the tendency to use alternative evaluation strategies; it had nineteen questions and four possible answers. Based on the results of the two surveys administered to the research sample and analyzed using appropriate statistical methods (i.e., the arithmetic mean, the standard deviation, and the t-test for two independent samples), the researcher found that both the students and faculty at the Institute of Fine Arts displayed a high level of use and a medium level of attitude toward alternative evaluation strategies. The researcher made a number of suggestions based on the findings.
