Abstract

There are many causes of air pollution that negatively affect human life and health, and harmful gases such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide, in addition to small particles, are the most common of these pollutants, as they lead to many risks to human health. The world, and especially its spread in Iraq, has a positive, albeit temporary, impact on the environment, as it is able to do what the climate agreement cannot reduce the rate of greenhouse gas emissions.

Through the Sentinel-5 satellite data, a significant decrease in the percentage of pollutants was observed in the governorate during the Covid-19 pandemic. The fifth month to the seventh month of 2020, and the second stage is the partial urbanization stage of roaming within the same period, and the third stage represents the stage of removing the total urbanization of roaming from the region, as the year 2022 was relied on, the sixth month, and the study showed a decrease in the concentration of pollutants represented by (second Carbon oxide and other greenhouse gases) in the governorate, and the reason for this is due to the set of measures that have been applied in Iraq in general and Salah al-Din Governorate in particular, represented by quarantine, social distancing, limiting travel and movement of individuals and social and commercial activities.
