The Effect of a Proposed Strategy according to a Model of Strengthening the Levels of Cognitive Cognition in the Achievement of Second- Intermediate Stage Female Students in Mathematics
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the effect of a proposed strategy based on a model of strengthening layers of cognitive cognition on the achievement of second-grade female students of the middle school in mathematics in the schools of the Directorate of Education Rusafa. To achieve the goal of this paper, the following hypothesis was formulated:
there is no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students who were taught with the proposed strategy according to the model of strengthening the layers of cognitive awareness and the control group that studied in the usual way in the achievement test"
The research community, which represents middle and secondary schools for girls within the General Directorate of Education of Rusafa was identified, and the Safina Intermediate School for Girls was selected, and the research sample consisted of (67) female student from the second intermediate grade. These students were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of (34) students for the experimental group. The other group consisted of (33) for the control group.
For the purpose of collecting data for the research, an achievement test was built, as the final form of the test consisted of (40) items of both essay and objective type, with (35 objectives and 5 essays).
Appropriate statistical analyses were conducted (difficulty and ease coefficient, discrimination coefficient and effectiveness of alternatives), and psychometric properties were confirmed. After statistical tools were selected to analyze the results of the test application, such as using the t-test, and the results indicated:
the students of the experimental group, who studied according to the proposed strategy according to the model of strengthening the layers of cognitive awareness, outperformed the students of the control group who studied according to the usual method in the achievement test for mathematics.
