Iraq's Foreign Trade and Its Impact on the Economic Power of the Country

Abstract
Nowadays, economic power has become one of the most important forms of state power according to the approach to state power measuring. Foreign trade, with all its indicators, is an important criterion for measurement from a geopolitical perspective. This research aims to show the role of trade balance of Iraq in supplying the gross domestic product and the possibility of diversifying exports without relying on one commodity or a small number of goods and getting rid of the problem of a unilateral income economy, which is one of the problems facing the structure of the Iraqi economy and affecting its geopolitical features compared to non-oil countries that are characterized by the diversity of their foreign exports. The research showed the dependence of the Iraqi economy, domestic product, balance of payments and public spending on crude oil exports. Iraq, with a very high percentage of up to 95% of the total gross domestic product, and this represents a weak point in the field of measuring the power of the state
