Al-Mughni’s Explanation of Maqamat Al- Hariri: The Eleventh Maqama as a Model
Main Article Content
Abstract
Al Maqamat is one of the literary genres that appeared in the late Abbasid era in light of certain trends that featured Arab literature during the fourth century AH. These trends were namely the stream of deprivation and tawassul, and the stream of craftsmanship and adornment in speech. Critics and researchers’s opinions varied and differed concerning the one presented this literary genre. However, most of critical opinions confirmed that Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani was the first to formulate this literary genre, and then came Hariri, who had the most prominent role presenting its mature form. Many of Al- maqams were translated into several languages. Therefore, this research aims at bringing this literary heritage to the forefront instead of forgetting it on the shelves of libraries.
