Abstract

Arabic poetry represents a tributary of various meanings, and this diversity gave it permanence and continuity. Therefore, this research examines the formation of the poetic heritage in the poetry of Al-Qatami. His poetry was inspired by heritage in its various forms and expressions. While some of them are religious, and relied on the Noble Qur’an, some others are literary as they alluded to ancient and contemporary poets. Further, his poetry manifests his preponderant and glowing mentality because he included proverbs and strange words that he derived from the Bedouin environment in which the poet lived. His expressions and tributaries of cultural heritage that formed his poetic heritage expressed his poetic talent that he drew and explored. The research comes up with a conclusion that includes the most important results.
