Abstract

The main objective of preparing this research is to highlight the road network system linking (Tikrit - Kirkuk) and that the most important problem that the study area suffers from is the number of vehicular traffics on the road linking Tikrit-Kirkuk. The movement of vehicles in the study area was measured by the field study, and the analytical method was used, in line with the nature of the topics during the course of the research. Some methods were used, foremost of which is the mapping of the road network, statistics, engineering laws and a vehicle speed measurement device were used through the quantitative data which was collected in tables corrected by reading maps after converting them to topological forms. The research came out with some recommendations. The study showed that there is a spatial variation of the road, which is represented in the intensity of transportation and traffic, as the (Tikrit-Kirkuk) road witnesses a the increase of the movement of passengers on the outbound journey near Tikrit Bridge up to (6,442) passengers, while the return is in the same place is witnesses (7,012) passengers to lead on the (Tikrit-Kirkuk) road near the Caliph’s checkpoint. The necessity of developing and expanding the road of (Tikrit-Kirkuk), due to their inability to accommodate the ever-increasing traffic density on them, due to the large movement of vehicles and the increasing transport.
