Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to assess the reality of the transitional services for people with intellectual disability from the viewpoint of parents in the city of Makkah. The researchers use the quantitative method, and a questionnaire to collect the data. The study sample consists of (73) parents. Results indicate that the parents rated the level of transition services provided to people with intellectual disabilities as a high level. For rating the factors of the questionnaire, the life and social skills factor was the highest rated factor, followed by the counseling and rehabilitation services factor, and then, the obstacles of providing the transition services factor came in third. Results showed no statistically significant differences due to the gender factor in the overall score, except for the factor of the obstacles of providing the transition services favor of males. The results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to the effect of educational level in all factors and on overall. Results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in assessing the reality of transition services from the parents' point of view due to the gender, age, educational level, type of educational institution, and the intensity of the disability factor.
