Shanghai Organization and its Regional and International Roles: A Political Geographical Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
During the last decade of the twentieth century, specifically after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the world witnessed the emergence of the unipolar states represented by the United States of America and its clear impact on dominating the international and political discourses at all levels. Consequently, there were many regional, political, economic and military blocs that would manage their various affairs in isolation from American politics. Among these blocs is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is a Eurasian regional organization consisting of six countries which agree to solve their problems and enhance the economic development independently from the polarity of the United States. Their agreement was signed within an administrative structure of the organization in pursuit of the goals set out in a strategic framework that was clearly recognized by the whole world.
