Problems of Orphans in the Institution of Social Welfare A Field Study in the Orphanage Institution in Mosul

Abstract
The aim of this research is to study the problems of orphans in the social welfare institution, and in order for the research to be achieved, the case study methodology was adopted as an exploratory study that focuses on the individual, with the aim of reaching hypotheses and reaching results using many means and tools, including interviewing, observation and participatory observation. The research included (10) cases representing orphans in the Social Welfare Institution in Mosul. Indeed, the study proved that inmates of the orphanage have many problems related to different aspects, on the psychological side, the study showed that the orphan inside the home suffers from a feeling of fear and insecurity, finds it difficult to sleep, suffers from anxiety and tension, tends to be isolated, and feels less than others. As for social problems, the results indicated that orphans used violence in dealing with others, poor communication between orphans and their families, and failure to adhere to the teachings and instructions of the home by some orphans, and there are those who do not accept them because they live in the orphanage. As for the economic problems, it is summarized by the state not allocating cash salaries to orphans, and not holding courses to train orphans to practice certain professions such as sewing, nursing, or the like. It also revealed that there are problems related to the entertainment aspect, such as the lack of a library inside the home for reading and reading, and there is no interest in creating and developing hobbies and talents among orphans. The cases also showed a weakness in recreational activities, such as setting up camps, making trips, and giving way to playing games.
