Abstract

The study was conducted in the centre of the city of Mosul and aimed at identifying the level of proficiency of social studies teachers (males and females) of active learning skills. In order to achieve the goal of the research, the researcher prepared a questionnaire consisted of 25 skills. The researcher examines the validity and reliability of the questionnaire then applied it to the main research sample, placing in front of each skill three  alternatives (good, medium, weak). The sample of the study consisted of 60 teachers of social studies (males and females) in Mosul.


 The researcher used the appropriate statistical methods according to the nature of the research (Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Weighted Average, Percentage Weight). The results of the current research indicated that the social studied teachers in the research sample having mastered 11 skills out of 25 skills used in the research. These results also indicated that there was a weak level in their mastery of active learning skills in light of the mastery degree 66.66 and above, which corresponded to the weighted average 2 and above.
