The spread of parliamentary electoral centers for the year 2021 in Salah al-Din Governorate
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study examines how electoral districts in Iraq were divided, which were divided on a geographical basis away from any influences related to religion, sect, denomination, nationality or ethnicity to serve political interests. The effects of this division on the results of the parliamentary elections held in 2021 will be discussed, as Salah al-Din Governorate was divided into three electoral districts. The focus will be on the negative effects of this new division, by studying the geographical distribution of voters and electoral centers according to administrative units and electoral districts, which were not previously in effect, and their impact on the voting behavior of voters and on the electoral results as a whole. It will also address the voting rates in each district, which includes a large number of polling stations. The importance of the principle of relative balance in the number of voters between electoral districts must be emphasized, to ensure fair representation in the elected council, and the districts must be determined in a fair and neutral manner, with oversight from a neutral party to ensure that constitutional principles are not violated.
