Abstract

The raising of livestock is a crucial aspect of agriculture since it helps with food supply. Given the importance of the issue, a thorough field study was carried out in 2022 in Salah al-Din Governorate on 191 farms that raised poultry. There are 149 farms in Tikrit District that raise meat chickens, which represents a surplus of 26.84 percent. However, there are a plethora of chicken in Tikrit , where they are produced by forty farms at a rate of 27.5%. Except in the Samarra area, where two farms are involved in the process of nurturing brood eggs for hatching, no such programs exist. Research shows that meat production is outpacing human population increase, leading to a food excess. Unlike egg production, which revealed a significant food shortage, the imbalance is covered by importing from other countries. With a maximum real capacity of 758,650 chickens in the Tikrit district and an average actual capacity of 2,266,039 chickens across all projects, the absorptive capacity was overestimated by 33.5%. There was a sufficient number of workers for each project; the broiler chicken project had 326 people working (80%), the table egg project had 79.5 people working (19.5% of whom were male), and the egg moms project had (4) people working (1%). During the year 2022, the Tikrit District produced the most chicken meat, totaling 11,835,200 tons, and the most table eggs, totaling 1,314,000 million eggs.
