الملخص
اعتبر القانون المصري القديم العديد من الافعال تعد جرائم تخل بالنظام الاجتماعي وجعل لكل من تلك الافعال عقوبة حسب مدى جسامة الضرر فاختلفت العقوبات من عقوبة الاعدام فيما تخص المؤامرات ، وكذلك كانت عقوبة البتر اي قطع العضو المسبب في الجريمة ، وعقوبة الكي على العبيد والاسرى ، واستخدام الضرب والجلد كعقوبة تأديبية للفلاحين الذين يتأخرون في تسديد الضرائب، كما كانت عقوبة السجن كاحتجاز على ذمة التحقيق سواء أكان ذلك قبل المحاكمة أم اثنائها ، فإننا نجزم أن السجن عقوبة السجن قد عرفت عبر وثائق، مثل ذلك نراه على لسان نبي الله يوسف عليه السلام عندما تعرض للفتنة وكانت عقوبته السجن ، كما لم يغفل القانون المصري عن العقوبات المالية والادارية والنفسية.
