الملخص
تُعد جامعة القرويين تطوراً لمسجد القرويين الذي بني في مدينة فاس في عام 225هـ/859م التي كانت أول عاصمة لأول كيان سياسي مستقل في المغرب الأقصى.
من الناحية الحضارية عدت الجامعة واحدة منْ أبرز المعالم الفكرية التي برزت في المغرب العربي جنباً إلى جنب مع المؤسسات التعليمية الأخرى في المشرق الإسلامي، مثل بيت الحكمة والجامعة المستنصرية وجامعة الكوفة في العراق، وجامعة الأزهر في مصر، بل إنها كانت أعرق وأقدم من حيث النشأة والتكوين.
ارتبط تاريخ جامعة القرويين بالتاريخ السياسي للمغرب، إذ أدت الجامعة دوراً كبيراً في دعم وبلورة النظام السياسي، لأنها مثلت الشرعية لأي حاكم أو سلطان يحكم البلاد، إذ كانت مبايعته تتم من خلالها وبواسطة علمائها، فضلاً عن ذلك، رفدت الجامعة مؤسسات الدولة المغربية كافة بالشخصيات البارزة التي تولت مناصب عديدة في المجالات السياسية والعسكرية من قادة ووزراء وحتى السلاطين إذ كان لهم أثراً كبيراً في تاريخ البلاد إلى وقتنا الحاضر، وعليه يمكن أن نصف جامعة القرويين بأنها تمثل تاريخ المغرب الأقصى، لما قامت به من أثر سياسي وتعليمي وديني وحضاري شكلت الجوانب المهمة من تاريخ البلاد.
