Abstract

Kirkuk suffers from a fluctuation in the amount of rain falling from one period to another . This is reflected on the temperature and the amount of solar radiation for the same station. Such fluctuation and changes in temperatures are engendered by several factors. The most important factor is that of rain whose effect varies from one season to another. This is recognized in Autumn rains which have less effect on
temperature than other seasons. This is related to time distance between Autumn and Summer. As for spring, rains of this season have a clear effect on the temperature of the following season the same station. Accordingly, the longer rains in spring season continued for advanced periods towards the summer, the more this helps to maintain soil moisture for advanced periods of summer, and thus the non-drying of the
plants and their persistence for a longer period contribute to the
high rates of real evaporation. Consequently, the high rates of
relative humidity, and then softening the atmosphere and its
contribution help to reduce the temperatures of the following summer at the aforementioned station.
