Abstract

The study revealed a clear spatial disparity in population distribution across the administrative units of the Baiji District, alongside relative homogeneity in certain demographic characteristics. It demonstrated that the cartographic representation methods employed were effective in visualizing and accurately analyzing these disparities. The study identified a distinct population concentration in the Baiji District center—reflected cartographically by larger symbols and higher color intensity values compared to other administrative units—whereas population densities were lower in the outlying sub-districts; additionally, sex ratio maps indicated a relative balance across the district. While there were slight spatial variations among the administrative units—reflected cartographically in the differing widths of the corresponding sectors—the district center exhibited lower values. Age structure maps revealed the predominance of the productive age group across all administrative units, alongside a persistently high proportion of the young population, indicating a youthful demographic profile for the district. Furthermore, maps of age-based dependency ratios showed higher dependency rates in Al-Hajjaj and Makhoul, contrasted with lower rates in Al-Zawiya.
