Geographical Distribution of Women Working in the Educational Sector in Kirkuk District
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the geographical distribution of women working in the educational sector in Kirkuk District for the period 2009–2024, focusing on numerical and relative distribution as well as distribution by educational stages. The results reveal a clear spatial disparity, with a high concentration in the district center due to population density, urban expansion, and the availability of educational institutions, compared to lower levels in other administrative units. A relative decline in central concentration in 2024 indicates a modest improvement in workforce distribution.
At the level of educational stages, primary education accounted for the highest proportion of female workers, followed by secondary education and kindergartens, while vocational education and fine arts institutes recorded the lowest representation, largely concentrated in the district center. The study finds that demographic, social, economic, and past security factors have significantly influenced this distribution, highlighting the need for balanced planning policies to achieve spatial equity in the distribution of female educational staff.
