Main Article Content
Abstract
This study intends to reveal the geographical analysis of the components of agricultural production in the Nimrud district, by studying the natural factors represented by geological structure, surface features, climate, soil and its productive capacity, water resources, in addition to studying the human factors represented by population size, economic activity, transportation and marketing, agricultural mechanization, fertilizers and seeds. The study also deals with the types of agricultural crops in the Nimrud district, represented by cereals, summer and winter vegetables and oil crops. The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which is the availability of mixed soil, which is one of the most important factors required for the success of agricultural crop cultivation , which is spread in most parts of the study area in addition to the transportation methods that played a direct and indirect role in agricultural investment in the study area, and from observing the relative distribution structure of the areas planted with wheat crops according to the districts of the study area, the first category included the districts Jdeidet Hala and Kani Harami within the study area. The percentages of cultivated areas ranged between (10953.0 – 6424.1), and the reason for this is due to the areas of cultivated districts and their location within the areas with guaranteed rain, in addition to the use of sprinkler irrigation systems by some of these districts.
