Statistical Analysis of the Statistical Relationship between Temperature, Production Quantity, and Distribution Trend of Vegetable Crops (Cucumber, Tomato, Pepper, Courgette , Eggplant, and Okra) in Kirkuk Governorate 2023-2024
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research aims to study the statistical relationship between temperature and the quantity of production of protected vegetable crops in Kirkuk Governorate through the use of the Pearson correlation coefficient and spatial analysis tools available in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment represented by (standard distance and distribution direction of the phenomenon under study). The reason for choosing temperature as a basic climatic factor for statistical analysis in this study rather than other climatic elements is due to the nature of agriculture in plastic houses, as temperature represents the most influential and powerful determining factor in the growth and development of plant crops within these closed environments that are planted out of season. The study showed the correlation and its strength between the crop and temperature (cucumber - 0.884 very strong relationship, tomato - 0.4 very weak, pepper - 0.927 very strong, tree - 0.927 very strong, eggplant - 0.929 very strong, okra - 0.929 strong). The study showed that the distribution direction and its concentration in the north and east of the governorate with a distribution angle of (75.4) to the southwest of the study area, "It is clear from the results of the directional analysis that the distribution of plastic houses in Kirkuk Governorate for the year 2024 follows a directed pattern inclined at an angle of 75.4° towards the northeast, which indicates the influence of geographical and economic factors in directing protected agriculture investments, which calls for supporting this pattern through spatial planning and distributing agricultural resources according to appropriate priorities.
