Digital Language: An Interaction Between Language, Literature, and Technology
Main Article Content
Abstract
The literature of the modern era is undergoing radical transformations due to the emergence of technology and social media, leading to the emergence of what is known as "digital literature." This literature reflects the impact of digital technology on language, where modern technologies contribute to reshaping the structure of language and writing styles. This research is an attempt to understand how digital tools affect literary expression styles, focusing on the evolution of language in this field. The importance of this topic is important because it highlights the impact of technology on literature, which is no longer exclusive to traditional writers. Thanks to the internet and digital technologies, literature is witnessing changes in its language and style, with new styles and innovative tools emerging, such as electronic blogs, interactive novels, and collaborative texts. These changes represent a turning point in our understanding of literature and our interaction with it. The main problem posed by the research is: How have digital technologies affected literary language? Do these changes represent a threat to the integrity and richness of language, or do they open up new horizons for the development of literature? Does digital writing contribute to the decline of traditional literary style or enhance new ways of creative expression? The research relies on a critical analytical approach that addresses digital literature through a set of technical tools and means. A set of digital literary texts (such as electronic blogs, interactive stories, and digital poetry) will be studied to analyze the impact of modern writing tools such as automatic spelling, linguistic abbreviations, and live interaction with readers. The research will also address linguistic analytical approaches to understand how language is reshaped in digital literature, drawing on previous studies on digital literature and the impact of technology on language. We address the research through important and interconnected axes as follows: Language and Technology - Digital Literature - Literary Styles in Digital Literature - Interaction between Writer and Reader - Social and Cultural Impacts. Through these axes, we arrive at a set of results, which can be summarized as a transformation of language that tends towards simplicity, brevity, and speed of communication, opening the door to innovation and leading to effective communication and the participation of the recipient in building the text, interacting, and interpreting. In order for the research to be fruitful, it must be concluded with recommendations that are primarily concerned with: encouraging critical study of digital literature - interacting with technology in a conscious manner and not sacrificing traditional literature, in addition to good investment in digital literature.
