Abstract

The significance of this study lies in its illumination of the compositional structures as a cohesive and compact element, whose constituent parts collectively influence one another to convey a specific meaning inherent to the concept of composition. Undoubtedly, shedding light on the structural properties of these compositions is crucial for extracting meaningful insights. This study focuses on the present tense verb and its agency in the verbal sentence structure in the poetry of Al-Samaw'al, which showcases a plethora of meanings that underscore the poet's refinement, noble character, and bravery. Furthermore, the study highlights the poet's expertise in the tradition of Imru' al-Qays and his loyalty to him, which in itself warrants an examination of his poetry. The poet's verses are replete with an inexhaustible wealth of meanings and connotations, conveyed through judiciously chosen words that attest to the poet's elevated artistry. His style is characterized by a robust structure, vivid imagery, and powerful expression, unencumbered by affectation or verbosity, not to mention the context in which these meanings are embedded.
