The Quality of Life of the Residents of the Displaced Camps : A Social Study in the Governorate of Erbil

Abstract
The upcoming of ISIS has resulted in a large population displacement and established many refugee camps in the KRG. A lot of studies focus on the refugee’s quality of life and how to improve that quality.
This current study explores the perceived adaptive capabilities of refugees who have interred the refugee camps. It aims at seeking the reasons behind their adaptive capabilities that create more affective approaches to tackle or understand it.
This study relies on the quantitative approach. It includes a questioner ,personal notes, and interviews with 50 refugees in four camps in Erbil governorate, namely, Hasansham, Baherka, Debag, and Xazer.
This understanding is perceived within three domains; physical, psychological, social relationships. Results show that the refugees feel that they are living instead of surviving, they have a feeling of safety and security because there basic needs and secondary needs are meet according to where they came from. Based on the result the researcher recommend the government of the KRG en the INGOs to create more opportunities for self-actualization of the refugees.
