Turkish-Qatari Relations 1990-1995
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research examines the historical relations of Turkey from 1990 to 1995, a period marked by significant international and regional events as well as political and economic transformations. Notably, this era included the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the disintegration of the Warsaw Pact, which facilitated a shift towards unilateralism by the United States and contributed to a global imbalance. Concurrently, the Arab Gulf region became a focal point of conflict, particularly in the aftermath of Iraq's withdrawal from the first Gulf War, which had left the nation in a state of exhaustion. These dynamics compelled Turkey to formulate new policies and strategies that aligned with the prevailing conditions on both the international and regional stages, especially following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the subsequent of second Gulf War.
