An Introductory Study of Ottoman Documentery Archives and their Importance in the Study of Contemporary History

Abstract
The study examines the Ottoman archive records, which have significant relevance and contain valuable information, prompting scholars to use them for acquiring, disseminating, and benefiting from knowledge across several academic disciplines. The research seeks to unveil the Ottoman archives in its newly established place in the Turkish capital, that contains millions of manuscripts and documents representing over four centuries of the Ottoman state. Notably, this archive provides essential examples of manuscripts and documents that aid Arab researchers in the exploration of both modern and ancient history of the Arab region. This study examines the elements and principles utilized in the analysis and description of manuscripts and documents. Prior to this, the researcher will elucidate the methodology for engaging with the administration of the Ottoman archives in Istanbul, thereby facilitating access for those interested in acquiring manuscripts and documents pertinent to cities and other subjects that may enhance the understanding of the civilizational history of prominent urban centers during a designated historical period.
