Self - Awareness of electronic blackmail among university students

Abstract
The research aimed to identify self-awareness of electronic blackmail among university students. Therefore, the two researchers selected a simple random sample of students from the psychological counseling and computer departments in the college and from the third and second stages in them. The number of members of the sample reached (120) male and female students equally from the two departments, with a ratio of (60). Male and female students from the third and second stages in the Department of Psychological Counseling, equally from both sexes, as well as (60) male and female students from the third and second stages in the Computer Department, equally from both sexes. Due to the lack of a pre-prepared scale to measure students’ self-awareness of electronic bullying, the two researchers prepared a scale for this purpose. By reviewing previous scales prepared to measure self-awareness in general, as well as reviewing the theoretical frameworks on which these scales were built, then they extracted the validity, reliability, and distinction of the items for the scale before applying it to the sample members. For the purpose of analyzing the data, the researchers used the t-test for one sample and the t-test for two independent samples as well. Using the Pearson correlation coefficient and Cronbach's alpha to determine the stability of the scale, as well as the arithmetic means and standard deviations, the research results showed that students have self-awareness of electronic blackmail in general, and that there is no difference between males and females in this self-awareness, but the results also showed that there are statistically significant differences in Self-awareness of electronic blackmail between the Department of Psychological Counseling and Computers and in favor of the Department of Psychological Counseling. There is also a statistically significant difference between the third and second stages in self-awareness of electronic blackmail and in favor of the second stage. Through the results of the research, the researchers reached a number of recommendations and proposals.
