Abstract

Journalism in Nineveh Governorate began in the late 19th century, as the region witnessed the emergence of the first newspapers and magazines that reflected the social, cultural, and political life of the time. "Al-Mosul" was one of the earliest publications in 1885. Journalism in Nineveh developed over the decades, influenced by the political events and social transformations that the country went through. During the British Mandate period, newspapers calling for independence, such as "Fata Al-Iraq" in 1922, emerged. In the 1950s and 1960s, the region witnessed a journalistic renaissance with the publication of newspapers such as "Fata Al-Arab" and "Al-Hadba'a".

Journalism in Nineveh witnessed a remarkable flourishing with the establishment of several local newspapers that played an important role in spreading cultural and political awareness. In the 1970s and 1980s, newspapers such as "Al-Hadba'a" and "Fata Al-Iraq" emerged as important media platforms. With the advent of technology, some of these newspapers transitioned to electronic versions in the early 21st century, which expanded their reach and influence. This research touched on the most prominent journalistic figures in order to document their most significant contributions to journalism in Nineveh Governorate in particular and Iraq in general.
