Abstract

Maintaining the safety of people and their property in any society, whether urban or rural, is one of the most important duties entrusted to the Civil Defense Institution.  The ability of this institution to perform its duties equally for all members of society requires a fair distribution of that service in a way that allows the opportunity to benefit from the services it provides at the private levels. When the geographical distribution of civil defence centres in the study area was examined, it was discovered that there were 21 civil defence centres and teams within the urban centres. The distribution of these centres was then assessed using the population size and service scope criteria, which revealed that the study area had reached its need for civil defence centres to 14 centres based on the population size criterion. As for the service scope standard, which specifies the areas that must be covered by the service scopes of these centers, the number of centers has reached (23) centers, which are to be opened within the limits of the basic design of urban centers within each city.
