Abstract

The research aims mainly at analyzing the semiotic dimensions of the content of the images in the Reading book for the first grade of primary school. The sample included (50 images) of the images of the main subjects in the book. The researcher used the "descriptive approach" and relied on a questionnaire as a tool to obtain the necessary data to achieve the purpose of the research through (30 indicators) within (6 dimensions). According to the results, the educational pictures, most of them, were characterized by accurate iconography and verbal proximity in terms of the relationship of the picture to the content and title of the verbal text and its proximity to the text. However, educational pictures did not take into account the economic aspect of the country's wealth and did not keep pace with modern developments (in time and space), which makes them less attractive and influencing students.

Accordingly, the researcher recommended working on selecting a committee specialized in authoring textbooks from the methods of teaching the Arabic language, specialists in the field of semiotics, drawing, and photography, in addition to a group of male and female teachers specialized in teaching the scientific subject. Paying attention to educational pictures that take into account the temporal and spatial level, and that highlight the wealth and goods that the country possesses.
