Omani-British Economic Relations 1979-1990

Abstract
Omani-British relations occupy an important place in the history of Arab-British relations, due to the long and distinguished history that has governed the relations of the two countries over several decades, including the political, economic and military fields.
The research deals with the development of economic relations between the two countries during the period of the British Conservative Party gover
nment headed by Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990), and how these relations become stronger after the events that swept the region following the outbreak of the Iraqi-Iranian war 1980-1988 alongside the way Thatcher government went towards strengthening economic cooperation in all its forms with the Sultanate of Oman.
The research relied on the documents of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office as well as the unpublished files of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's office, which accurately monitored the British government's orientations through the contacts it made with its embassy in Muscat towards taking appropriate means to ensure the revival of the British economy by relying on the development of various economic relations with Oman.
