Jewish and Arab Newspapers and Magazines and their Position towards the Zionist Movement (1889-1948 )
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Arab and Zionist press exerted significant influence via their publications, consistently condemning Zionism and its perceived threats to Palestine. These journals staunchly opposed the creation of a Zionist state in Palestine, seeing it as a breach of the rights of the Palestinian people. These periodicals focused on social, economic, and political matters. One of their first concerns was safeguarding the property from Jewish exploiters and refraining from selling it to Jewish immigrants. These newspapers primarily emphasized Palestinian (Arab) nationalism and their opposition to any proposals for creating a Jewish national homeland in Palestine. They also criticized the British Mandate government in Palestine for its strong support of Zionist immigration and settlement in the region.
