Abstract

This study focuses on examining the political landscape of Gorgan, a region that has seen significant political upheavals with far-reaching consequences across several domains.  The territory in question gained significant significance within the context of Islamic history, particularly in relation to the Islamic conquest of Gorgan, which occurred under the Rashidun Caliphate. One of the commanders proceeded towards it with the intention of accessing it, but, it was approached in order to do homage to the Muslims. Subsequently, a further conquest occurred, but characterized by fluctuation and instability rather than consistency. The Umayyad caliphate successfully achieved the conquest of Gorgan through the leadership of Yazid al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra. Subsequently, military garrisons were established in the region to solidify their control and exert their influence. It is worth noting that the inhabitants of Gorgan played a significant role in the establishment of the Abbasid call, resulting in the region's continued dependence on it.
