Abstract

Turkish literature is an ancient literary tradition with historical origins dating back to ancient times. It encompasses a diverse range of popular literary forms such as myths, stories, tales, plays, and takaya literature. The development of Turkish literature can be attributed to various factors, including the cultural convergence and shared Islamic religion between the Arab and Turkish communities, as well as common political circumstances and colonial influences. In the realm of immigration, it is evident that Arabic and Turkish literature share certain commonalities in terms of heritage arts and references. This includes a notable presence in popular theatre. Comparative studies, which aim to explore the interactions between diverse cultures, offer a suitable framework for examining the tragedy of Karbala in both Arab and Turkish theatres. By analyzing theatrical texts that depict the incident of Karbala in these two theatrical traditions, we can discern the similarities and differences between them.
