Abstract

This treatment begins with three critical issues: intertextuality, the art of initiation, and opposition. We are not here to follow up the first origin of these terms, nor how they developed, but our goal will focus on studying the two texts to clarify the aspects of creativity in them through intertextuality and opposition, and through the ingenuity of the initiation of the two poets.

Al-Baroudi opposed a number of Arab poets, but his opposition to Abu Firas al-Hamdani acquires a special importance that goes beyond Al-Baroudi's influence on this poem and his interaction with it, to the convergence of the two poets in important aspects on the personal level, and on the level of the events that confronted each of them. Both poets were a prince, a knight, and a poet, and the two were exposed to captivity, exile, and alienation. In addition, the beginning of each of the two poems has a distinct importance from the other verses of the poem.
