Abstract

The phenomenon of sorrow and lamentation is always evident in the writings of every Arabic poet. All literary studies addressed the phenomenon, as sorrow completes the poem's emotional picture. It gives the poem a mournful cadence with lines that suggest the poet's profound loss. This is evident in the poetry of Ibn Alzayat.

In this lament, the status of women and the plethora of interest in them are reflected in Arabic poetry, particularly in this elegiac ode for the wife's weeping and conveying grief and loss over her.

Through the implied styles, words, and emotions of the text, this study endeavors to investigate this phenomenon in the poems of the aforementioned poet. This phenomenon enhanced the concept of melancholy and presented it with integrity.
