Implications of US Investment Projects in the Middle African Union 1953--1963
Main Article Content
Abstract
During the period of 1953-1963, the economic interests of the United States in the Middle African Union became crucial. This was primarily due to the Union's potential to serve American economic interests related to copper and chrome mines, as well as other activities of American companies. As a result, American investors showed significant interest in the Union during this time. The American Chemical Company was among the pioneering firms to commence operations within the union. Its primary focus is on advancing the fertilizer industry in the region. The primary objective of investing in the union for the United States of America is to generate financial returns overseas, which is the antithesis of capital movement. The effect of indicated investments on the African population within the Union was predominantly negative.
