Iraqi-French Commercial Relations 1963-1979
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study of the history of international relations between nations is closely linked to the nature of the historical background of that relationship, which is naturally reflected in the political, economic and social conditions, as those conditions enable society to get rid of the burdens it faces in order to keep pace with the countries of the world.
In the light of that understanding, interest emerged in studying the subject of “Iraqi-French commercial relations 1963-1979.” The year 1963 was represented by the formation of a new government in Iraq headed by President Abd al-Salam Muhammad Aref. The year 1979 represented the end of an important era in the contemporary history of Iraq, to begin a new stage in Iraqi-French relations.
The problem that the study tries to address is what is the nature of the Iraqi-French trade relations? What is the role of successive governments in developing these relations? What is the extent of the impact resulting from the change of the political system in Iraq or France, represented by the transition to the republican system, on the nature of those relations
