Abstract

The current research aims to identify:



  1. The level of the professional self of educational counselors.

  2. The statistically significant differences of the professional self among educational counselors according to the service variable (1-10) (11-20) (21-30).

  3. The statistically significant differences of the professional self among educational counselors according to the gender variable (males and females).


 The two researchers used the descriptive approach, and the current research was limited to educational counselors in Kirkuk governorate, where the sample of the current study consisted of (160) male and female counselors for the academic year (2022-2021), and the sample of the current research was chosen from the original community represented by educational counselors in schools. They are the government employees of the Kirkuk Education Directorate, which numbered (300) male and female guides.


 As for the research tools, the two researchers prepared the professional self-scale after reviewing the literature and previous studies, which consisted of (3) areas and (39) paragraphs.  In the current research, the statistical package (SPSS) was used to reach the required results in the research procedures, and a set of statistical methods were used, including (T-test for two independent samples, Pearson correlation coefficient, and chi-square).


  The current research reached the following results:



  1. The research sample has a high level of professional self.

  2. There are statistically significant differences in the professional self-according to the gender variable (male - female) and in favor of males.

  3. There are no statistically significant differences in the professional self-according to the variable years of service.


 In light of the results of the current research, the two researchers reached a number of recommendations and suggestions.
