Main Article Content
Abstract
The Emirate of Bani Quraman is one of the Islamic countries that ruled the Turkish lands, where southern Asia Minor and northern Levant appeared in the Mamluk era, and their role emerged after the weakness of the Seljuk sultans on the political and military stage in Anatolia. After the fall of the Seljuk Sultanate, the Karamanids were able to establish an independent emirate and settled in the capital, Konya, after they took control of it in (728 AH / 1327 AD).
The location of Bani Qurman has become of special importance after they were among the areas of influence of competing forces such as the Mamluk state in Egypt, the Mongols in Iraq, and the Ottoman Empire. As a result, it became the focus of their attention, and some of their princes continued to support the Mongols in one district, the Mamluks, the Ottomans, and the Seljuks at another time.
The Emirate of Bani Quraman is one of the powerful emirates, under their influence, starting from Ankara in the north, Konya, Qara Hisar, Latiq, and Aksra in the center, and it extended in the south to the cities of Hergla, Aranda, Armenak and Seleucia on the Mediterranean.
