Abstract

The last years have witnessed specialized websites in checking fake news to limit its spread and then raise awareness of its danger. Arab press has no clear role to face the fake news, except for a few media institutions as Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar, which has realized the danger of this phenomenon that invade the world because of its easy circulation through social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or its circulation through communication applications such as WhatsApp, Viber, and others.
So, Al-Nahar has allocated a section entitled (Al-Nahar tatahakak); its aim is to check fake news that certain parties have behind or person who have different goals in publishing this type of news.
The main inquiry which summarized the problem of this study :"What is the role of the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar in ckecking Fake news?
The most important conclusions which I have reached are as the following:
1. A significant interest of Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar’s in checking the fake political news and its lack of interest in educational and technical news, with varying interest in other content, through checking it directly or through republishing the news that other media institutions have checked.
2. An-Nahar newspaper checks for fake news by its employees to a large extent and it depends on news which has been checked by other media organizations such as the Agency France Press and Reuters.
