Abstract

The aim of the research is to reveal the orientation towards life and its relationship to the closure of identity among students of Tikrit University and according to the variables of gender and specialization. The research community included students of the third stage in the colleges of Tikrit University of both sexes and from the scientific and human disciplines for the academic year (2019-2020), in order to achieve the research goals, the researcher builds two measures, one of which is the orientation towards life, in its final form of (34) paragraphs, and the second is the measure of the closure of identity, which includes (4) areas (religious, political, friends, dealing with the other sex) by (30) paragraphs, knowing that both measures are They were five-way alternatives, and their psychometric properties of validity, distinction, and stability were confirmed, and the results of the research showed the following: His university students enjoy a high level of orientation towards life. There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in terms of self-identity and orientation towards life. University students enjoy a low level of identity blockage. There were no statistically significant differences between males and females in identity lockout. The existence of a negative relationship between the orientation towards life and the closing of identity, and in light of the research results, the researcher developed a set of conclusions, recommendations and proposals.
