Morphometric Analysis of the Properties of Water Network in Wadi Al-Abidi Basin in the Iraqi Western Desert
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research deals with the morphometric analysis of the characteristics of the water network of Wadi Al-Abidi Basin, one of the dry valleys in the Iraqi Western Desert which flows into the Euphrates at the left bank. However, the study of the morphometric properties occupies an important place in the geomorphological and hydrological studies. They reflect the relationships that link the factors and erosion processes furthermore the earth phenomena associated with them or arise from them. In terms of methodology, the digital elevation data (DEM) was relied upon in drawing the water drainage network of the basin and creating a geographical database represented in determining the spatial, morphological, and topographic characteristics and characteristics of the water drainage network and the characteristics hydrological and the impact of these properties in determining the optimal land use for the studied basin.
