Abstract

The person familiar with the ancient critics’ proposals clearly seeks hypothetical rules and harsh conditionality's to distinguish and clarify the identity of poetry from the rest of the literary arts. They see weight in particular as an absolutely indispensable thing. As for falling into one of the defects of meter and rhyme, they have a major fault with which the poet is blamed, and it is not possible to classify the poetics of the text for them unless it matches the rules of Hebron in weights and rhymes. However, another group of senior critics do not consider the poetic and rhyming weights and the tradition of the ancients as a necessary criterion for clarifying the concept of poetry, and they do not require the application of Al-Khalil's genius in poetry systems; Rather, they see poetry in matters more important than the requirements of meter and rhyme, and we will try to bring the sayings of these old critics closer with the premises of modernity and beyond, its methods and tools; We stand on the priorities of Arab modernity and establish the alphabet of modernity and postmodernity instead of its Western references.
