Abstract

The Abbasid era is considered one of the eras that witnessed development and renewal in all fields of life, whether political, social, cultural and literary. Abbasid poetry witnessed a remarkable development in its themes and a renewal in its structural and stylistic structure due to the mixing of Arabs with other peoples, which led to the exchange of cultures and ideas and the development of the poet's imagination and aesthetic taste. In addition to the emergence of many poetic purposes because the Abbasid Caliphs allowed poets to produce their poems which varied in their subject matters, and the topic of place occupied the largest part of their systems and description of nature in that era. Their poems reached the pinnacle of creativity and sophistication, because they were linked to their emotional conscience and psychological state. This study is concerned with the place in Abbasid poetry. Fetiyan Al-Shaghouri’s poetry has the feature of the frequent occurrence of the place in its various types. His style is characterized by accuracy and ingenuity, and his employment of multiple methods, whether linguistic or rhetorical to describe multiple places.
