Abstract

This research attempts to study the phenomenon of alternation, and explain it through the texts in which it appears, whether from the Holy Qur’an or the speech of the Arabs. Alternation is the substitution of one word for another word, or on behalf of one formula for another formula, which indicates the meaning of the formula it represents, so they exchange structure and meaning together and contribute. This phenomenon of expanding meaning and multiplicity of forms, and the expansion of Arabs in employing these morphological forms, indicates the flexibility of the Arabic language and the diversity of its styles.

Given that this phenomenon is common in the Arabic language, the research focused on studying the phenomenon of alternation between the infinitive and morphological derivatives. It revolved around the occurrence of alternation between the infinitive and the active participle, the infinitive and the active participle, the infinitive and exaggerated forms. Because it occurs most frequently in evidence
