Main Article Content
Abstract
The research aims at knowing the cognitive bias and its relationship with the personality traits among university students, the significance of differences according to the gender variable (males – females), and the correlation between the two variables. In order to verify this, the researchers adopted the cognitive bias scale prepared by (Abdul-Amir, 2018). The scale's total items was 31 in its final form. Also, the personality traits scale which prepared by Costa and Mc Crae (1992) and Al- Murab by (Al-Ansari, 1997) was used.
The items of the scale in their final form was (35) items. The psychometric properties were calculated, and the two instruments were applied to a sample consisted of (120) students who were randomly selected from three colleges at Tikrit University (College of Science, College of Arts, and College of Education for Humanities) for the academic year 2020-2021. We used the Statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) in treating the data, and the results of the research showed the following:
- The sample of the study, from Tikrit University, does not have cognitive bias.
- There are no statistical significance of differences between males and females in the cognitive bias.
- Students from the university have got Personality Traits.
- There is significance of differences between males and females in Personality Traits and the favorite for the males.
The statistical analysis reveals that there is negative significance of correlation between the present research (cognitive bias and Personality Traits) according to the sample as a whole
